Display Variants can be created to generate various Preview Window Display variations of a Composition. For example, you can create multiple different Display Variants for screen sizes, layouts, resolutions, languages and more.

Selecting Created Display Variants

Display Variants are created and managed in the Data Interface and Control Panel within the Display Variants Tab (1). Created Display Variants can be previewed in the Output Manager by selecting from the "Display variant" dropdown menu above the preview window (2)

Display Variants tab in Data Interface and Control Panel

Formerly known as the Globals tab, the Display Variants tab inside of the Data Interface and Control panel is for creating and managing output display variants.

Create display variants at the top (A).  Created Display Variants are listed on the left (B). The various settings of each Display Variant are listed on the right (C).

A) Display Variant Creator Menu

You can create your Display Variants from this portion of the panel.

B) Display Variant List

A list of all created Display Variants that can be drag and drop reordered. Selecting each display variant will preview the results in the output window.

C) Display Variant Settings

Name and resolution

  • Name
    Define the name of your created Display Variant
  • Description
    Set the optional description of your Display Variant
  • Resolution
    Select the desired resolution of your Display Variant from Landscape, Square, Portrait and Responsive options.

Adaptive Globals 

Widgets, Subcompositions, etc are hidden or shown based on their Adaptive tab settings. These settings can be referenced in a Display Variant in the Adaptive Globals Section.

  • Screen Size
    Used to define various screen sized output variants
  • Layout
    Used to define output orientation as Tower, Portrait, Landscape and more output variants
  • Text Direction
    Can be used for defining right to left or left to right text direction output variants 
  • Interactive
    Activate or deactivate any interactive settings of your Composition in an output variant
  • Language
    Define various languages for output variants
  • Custom 1, 2, 3
    Various custom options custom output variants
